Lynden Backyard Transformation: 12-Foot Cascading Stream
Located in Lynden (Whatcom County), this project involved constructing a pristine 12-foot cascading water feature tailored right into the backyard landscape near the home’s deck. Utilizing efficient material staging and heavy equipment, our team executed the entire build over a tight, efficient two-day timeline.
🏗️ Phase 1: Excavation & Structural Foundation
The first day focused on site preparation, heavy logistics, and earth-moving.
-
Material Logistics: After unloading the excavator and staging the large boulders, we used muck trucks to carefully transport materials to the backyard without disrupting the lawn.
-
Grade Building: To create the necessary elevation drops near the deck, we brought in fresh soil to shape and build up the waterfall’s structural mound.
-
Core Infrastructure: Within a single morning session (9:30 AM to 3:00 PM), we excavated the site, set the sub-surface reservoir tank, plumbed the lines, installed the waterfall starter, and compacted the structural soil grade.
🪨 Phase 2: Liner, Framing & Stone Placement
On day two, the project shifted from bulk earth-moving to precision artistry.
-
Stream Lining: We began by grooming the soil bed to ensure a smooth grade, followed by laying down the protective felt underlayment and a heavy-duty rubber liner.
-
Rock Work: We carefully placed large, rounded framing boulders to lock the liner in place and shape the stream banks.
-
The Cascades: Specially selected spill rocks were set into the upper tiers to establish the clean, multi-drop waterfall sequence visible in the final design.
